The idea

Better projects, found by the right people

Architecture is a business of projects, and projects are won on trust. Most practices grow through recommendations, repeat clients and a handful of builders who send work their way. Those relationships are precious, but they can leave long gaps between jobs. Meanwhile, homeowners in your area are searching online for someone to design their extension, loft conversion or new home.

Rank and rent helps you be the practice they find. We build a website around the project searches people make in your area, get it ranking on Google, and set up the Google Business Profile and listings behind it. Then we rent the site to one practice in your area for a set monthly fee. Every enquiry comes to you alone, and we do not rent the same site to another architect nearby.

You do not pay per lead, you do not bid for clicks, and you stay focused on design rather than marketing.

What people search for

What people search for when they want to build

People who search for an architect are usually planning a specific project, and that makes the enquiries high quality. A ranked site is written around the work they have in mind.

“Architect near me”

The broadest local search, often from a homeowner at the very start of a project.

“House extension architect”

Homeowners who want more space and are weighing up how to do it well.

“Loft conversion plans”

Owners who need drawings for planning or building regulations.

“Planning permission drawings”

People who have been told they need drawings and do not know where to begin.

“Barn conversion architect”

Clients with a bigger, more complex project and a generous budget.

“Architectural designer in [your town]”

A direct local search from someone ready to talk about their plans.

Why it works

Why rank and rent suits an architectural practice

One project can be worth a great deal

Residential and small commercial projects are high value, so a single new client can cover a monthly rental many times over.

It fills the gaps between recommendations

Word of mouth is wonderful, but it is unpredictable. A ranked site adds a steady stream of enquiries that fills quieter periods.

The enquiry comes to you alone

Matching sites often send the same project to several practices. A rented site sends it only to yours.

People research before they call

Clients take their time choosing an architect, and they read the website carefully. A site that shows your approach and past work helps them decide to get in touch.

What you get

What your site would actually include

Architecture is visual, so the site is built to show your work and to explain the process clearly.

A place for your projects

Room for photographs and short descriptions of completed work, which is usually the first thing a potential client wants to see.

Pages for each kind of project

Extensions, loft conversions, new builds, renovations and planning applications, each explained in plain English.

How the process works

A simple guide from first conversation to planning and building regulations, so clients know what to expect and what it costs.

Your registration and credentials

Space for your ARB registration, any RIBA membership and your professional indemnity insurance, so visitors can see who they are dealing with.

A simple way to start

A tracked phone number and a short enquiry form asking a few questions about the project, going straight to you.

A Google Business Profile and reviews

Set up and active, with room for genuine client feedback, which carries a lot of weight for a big project.

A simple example

Rank and rent, a simple example

Imagine you want to build the best treehouse ever, with a slide and a secret door. You have lots of ideas, but you need someone to draw the plan so the builders know what to do. You ask Google, “Who can draw my treehouse?”

We build a bright sign that says “Treehouse plans drawn here” and put it at the top of the busiest street, where everyone looks first. That sign is the website.

You rent the sign from us for the same amount each month. Anyone who walks up to it asks you, and only you. We look after the sign, and you do the drawing.

Worth knowing

A few things to know before you rent

In the UK, “architect” is a protected title. Only people registered with the Architects Registration Board may use it. We will only use the word on your site if you are registered, and we make room for your ARB number. If you are an architectural designer, we will describe you accurately instead, because honest wording protects you and your clients.

Architecture is a long sales cycle. Many people spend weeks or months planning before they speak to anyone, and they often speak to several practices. A ranked website helps you be among the first they find, and a flat monthly fee keeps your cost steady while the enquiries come in at their own pace.

A rented site is a website with a flat monthly fee, not a payment for each project. Rank and rent suits practices that have room for new projects and can reply to enquiries promptly, because the first practice to answer well often gets the first meeting.

What it costs

The set monthly fee depends on your area and how competitive it is. A big city, where many people build and several practices compete, costs more than a small town. We give you one price when we check availability, with no per-lead charges.

Questions

Architects: straight answers

Can the site show photographs of my work?–
Yes. We build in a place for your projects, and you can send us photographs and short descriptions to feature.
I am an architectural designer, not a registered architect. Is that a problem?+
Not at all. We will describe you accurately and will not use the protected title unless you are registered.
Do I own the website?+
No. We own, host and look after the site, and you rent the enquiries it generates. That is why the fee can be a set monthly amount and why there is nothing for you to maintain.
Can another architect in my town rent the same site?+
No. Each site has one tenant for its area.
How quickly will I get enquiries?+
The site is built and ranking before you rent it, so enquiries can start straight away. The number depends on how many people in your area search for architects.
Is there a long contract?+
No long-term lock-in. Rentals run month to month with 30 days’ notice.
